Coke or Pepsi?

In Soviet Union countries there were rumors about Coke and Pepsi’s taste. There is one famous Soviet movie “Brilliant Hand” in which main hero’s wife asks her husband if he had tasted there (abroad) Coca-Cola.
Right after becoming an independent country, Uzbekistan food market became rich with various non-alcoholic beverages, including Coke, Pepsi, Merida, and so on. Except for being coolers, these drinks are light energy drinks too. They were in high demand especially among young people. That is why in March 1994 Coca-Cola Ichimligi Uzbekiston, Ltd. was established in Uzbekistan with the aim of production of local Coke, Fanta, and Sprite.

In October 2011 PepsiCo opened its factory in Uzbekistan (together with Sebur, local manufacturer of coolers). Their product has been advertised intensively throughout the country right away: banners on houses, sunshades and fridges with logo.


If we look deeper, nowadays tastes of Coke and Pepsi do not differ considerably just as their components. No more secret components.

Nowadays, Pepsi is made of:
• water• sugar• carbonic acid• colouring agent E150d (sugar colour IV)• acidity regulator E338 (orthophosphoric acid)• caffeine• natural aromatizators and extracts
Coke in its turn is produced from:
• water• sugar• carbonic acid• colouring agent E150d (sugar colour IV)• carmoisine (azorubine) (E122)• orthophosphoric acid (E338)• caffeine• natural aromatizators
However, production technologies are kept top secret by both companies.
